Craigie Community Sport Hub
Craigie Community Sports Hub is a registered charity through OSCR, registered in June 2012 (SC043235). The Community Sports Hub is made up of two local Football Clubs, a Boxing Club and a dance group. The Community Sports Hub is primarily based in the east end of Dundee and has good community engagement within the Douglas, Craigie and Mid Craigie areas of Dundee.
The group are comprised of two well established Football Clubs in the Craigie area, one is Dundee United Sports Club who have boys and girls football from 4 years old to adults. The club have well established 4 v 4 football centres in line with the Scottish Football Association's Player Pathway, with over 100 attending regularly. The other Football team involved within the Hub are Morgan Academy FP Amateur Football Team, who have two teams playing in the local Amateur League.
Discovery Amateur Boxing Club has been in existence for over 15 years and cater for youths and adults, competing at all different levels.
The Hub also has a great relationship with Craigie High School and Dundee and Angus College, running a variety of projects together. The pupils at Craigie also use the Hub’s astrotuf for Curriculum PE.
Since its establishment the Hub have refurbished 4 local shops into changing rooms and a facility for socialising, dance, fitness and meetings, redeveloped Monymusk Park, built Craigie Community Sports Centre which includes changing rooms, a large multi purpose area and kitchen facilities, and built an astroturf facility. These developments have allowed the Hub to engage with local residents to increase individual club memberships.
The next part of Craigie CSH’s plan is to increase tennis opportunities for the local community. As part of this plan the hub have donated funding to Dundee City Council to install floodlights at Baxter Park tennis courts to enable year round play.
