Forthill Community Sports Club

Forthill Community Sports Club is a thriving community sports hub which caters for all ages and serves Broughty Ferry and the East End of Dundee. The hub is located behind Forthill Primary School and has cricket and rugby pitches, tennis courts, squash courts, table tennis facilities, bar, function suite and a barbecue area. The multi sports club is open to the whole community and is a great place for kids and families to come together in sport.

Forthill Community Sports Club gained legal status when it became a SCIO in November 2015 (SC046119). The hub has a development plan in place which includes upgrades to the clubhouse and tennis courts. In addition, the hub run a number of events throughout the year for the community to enjoy including a Hub Open Night, Girls Festival of Sport, Food and Drink Festival and holiday programmes.

Forthill Community Sports Club consists of 6 clubs:

Forfarshire Cricket Club: Forfarshire Cricket Club have been based at Forthill since the club was founded in 1880 and now run four senior teams and a thriving junior section with teams from under 10’s to under 18’s. Upgrades to the cricket facilities have seen the development of a new three lane custom built practice area with lighting which enables the clubs qualified coaches to provide year-round quality sessions for males and females.

Forthill Community Tennis Club: Formerly named Games Club, the club has been renamed Forthill Community Tennis Club. With 6 blaze courts, a practice wall and changing rooms at Forthill the club provides opportunities for the community to play tennis in a friendly, safe and fun environment. The club holds the LTA Club Mark Award for the management and setup of the club. The club offers a wide range of activities for players of all ages and abilities from juniors to seniors while professional tennis coaches are available for private coaching sessions.

Forthill Squash Club: Squash is a fast-developing sport at Forthill with approximately 80 adult and youth members. With 3 squash courts available all are welcome whatever your standard. The club’s development was highlighted when it was named Squash Club of the Year by Scottish Squash in September 2019.

Grove Menzieshill Hockey Club: Grove Menzieshill is one of Scotland’s largest and most successful hockey clubs. With over 300 members, players aged from 4 to 67 and abilities ranging from social players to full Great Britain internationals. The club has strong links with a number of schools in the city and is a key contributor to the development of hockey in Dundee.

Panmure Rugby Club: Panmure Rugby Club are a long-established rugby club founded in 1880 providing both adult and junior rugby in Broughty Ferry. Panmure is one of the oldest rugby clubs in the area with the adult team playing in the Caledonia Midlands League Division 2. Panmure Panthers is the junior section of the club which provides coaching for boys and girls aged Primary 1 to Primary 7.

Plebeians Table Tennis Club: Plebeians Table Tennis Club are based within Forthill Indoor Sports Centre. The table tennis season runs from September to March with the club entering teams in the local Dundee and District leagues. There are opportunities for all to play with junior and senior practice sessions run on a Sunday night during the season.
