Who We Are

On the 1st July 2011 the Board of Leisure and Culture Dundee held its inaugural meeting.

The transfer agreement between Dundee City Council and Leisure &Culture Dundee was agreed and signed along with lease agreements and the staff transfer list.  Leisure and Culture Dundee is Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation Number SC042421.  Dundee Leisure was integrated with Leisure & Culture Dundee from 1st August 2011.

Moira is a former CEO of the Scottish Library and Information Council and an Honorary Vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland.   She was Head of Libraries, Information and Cultural Services when she retired from Dundee City Council in 2011.  This post comprised the management of libraries, art galleries, museums and community centres across the city, as well as deputising for the Director.  From 2007 until 2015, she was a Trustee of the National Library and served on the Governance Committee and chaired the Staffing and Remuneration Committee.   Moira is Chair of Leisure & Culture Dundee’s HR and Equalities Committee.

Will is an elected member for the SNP within Dundee City Council.   After leaving school he went on to higher education studying hospitality at Inverness College and worked for a number of years in the industry.  He has since gone on to work for a major utilities company in a variety of roles.   He became a Councillor for the then Eastport ward in 2003 and has been proud to represent the East End ward in which he lives since 2007.   Will has been the convener of the City Development committee and is currently the convener of the Development Management committee (Planning).  He firmly believes that the city is quickly becoming the place to be and that organisations such as Leisure & Culture Dundee have a huge role to play in the renaissance of the city.   Will is currently the Chair of the Health, Safety and Property Committee.

Anna is currently Partnership Manager with consultants Urban Foresight, and was previously part of the University of Dundee External Relations Department, seconded to the role of Manager for the UNESCO City of Design. With experience in delivery of a wide range of cultural projects, bids and literary events, Anna has a detailed knowledge of the services provided by Leisure & Culture Dundee, and brings specific expertise in relation to sourcing external funding, and marketing.

Charlie Malone was elected as a Scottish Labour Party Councillor for Ward Number 2, Lochee in May 2017. Charlie is also a lecturer in International Management at Abertay University with a specific interest in sustainable communities.

Christina is an elected member for the SNP within Dundee City Council. After raising a family Christina attended Dundee College then Abertay University to study European Economics and Social Studies and gained an honours degree in 2002. She stood as a councillor and represented Pitkerro Ward from 2003 where she lived and latterly East End Ward from 2007. Currently Christina is Convener of Tayside Contract Services and Tayside Valuation Board, Climate Change Champion and Vice Convener of Planning for Dundee City Council.

Christina is currently on the Finance Committee of Leisure & Culture Dundee.

Independent Trustee appointed in 2017

George retired in 2010 as Head Teacher at Menzieshill High School and previously Baldragon Academy.   He has been strongly engaged and committed to Dundee throughout his career and was active in a number of the Dundee communities and involved in charity fund raising.   He is a volunteer with Football Memories, Alzheimers Scotland, and Dundee Wurzburg Twinning Association.  From 2014-2016 George was Captain of Broughty Golf Club.  From 2011 until 2014, he was a Trustee and speaker with Tayside Pre-Retirement Council.

Ian is a retired bank executive with over 30 years' experience in senior management roles reporting to divisional board level within a UK plc.   Currently a Business Consultant working with owner managed businesses to help source finance and develop new markets, and a Trustee of Dundee Disabled Children's Association.  A member and past president of the Rotary Club of Dundee, Ian has a strong engagement with and commitment to the Dundee community.  He serves as the lead independent trustee and Chair of the Finance Committee.

Council Appointed Trustee and Managing Director (Dundee City Council Director, Leisure and Culture)

Judy is Director of Leisure and Culture and Managing Director, Leisure & Culture Dundee by Dundee City Council. She had previously been Head of Library & Information Services at the organisation since 2011 before officially becoming Director in 2021.

An Equality and Diversity Consultant and a Board member of the Dundee International Women’s Centre, Nasreen brings extensive experience of business, community development, and professional experience in the field of equality, diversity and inclusion, and a specific contribution in relation to her links with the ethnic minority community in Dundee.

Stuart is a Professor of Law at the University of Dundee and has extensive experience of working in the cultural sector, previously on the Board of DCA, and more recently as Chair of the Fife Culture Trust and Trustee of Hospitalfield House. Stuart currently chairs the Audit Committee of OSCR and serves on their Board. He brings extensive experience of governance, charity law, and finance.

Robert grew up in Liverpool and studied Chemistry at Durham University. On graduating he trained as a CIPFA accountant with the NHS in Cumbria. After a spell as a management consultant in London he relocated to the Western Isles in 1999 to work for Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. He became the Comhairle's Director of Finance in 2005 and took on a number of additional responsibilities over the years becoming the Director for Assets, Finance and Resources before joining Dundee City Council as Executive Director of Corporate Services in February 2021.

Sue Moody - Independent Trustee appointed June 2021

Sue Moody spent more than 30 years working with and for crime victims, as Director of Victim Support Scotland, as a Law Lecturer at Dundee University and most recently as Head of Victim Information and Advice within COPFS, the Scottish prosecution service. She has been involved as a Board member and volunteer in arts-based organisations and heritage projects locally and nationally. She was a founder member of the Charity Law Research Unit at Dundee University and continues to develop her expertise in charity governance.
