Who We Are
On the 1st July 2011 the Board of Leisure and Culture Dundee held its inaugural meeting.
The transfer agreement between Dundee City Council and Leisure &Culture Dundee was agreed and signed along with lease agreements and the staff transfer list. Leisure and Culture Dundee is Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation Number SC042421. Dundee Leisure was integrated with Leisure & Culture Dundee from 1st August 2011.

Independent Trustee elected as Chair by the Board
Sinclair was elected as Chair of Leisure & Culture Dundee in 2017 after serving as Vice Chair since 2011. He is a retired Company Director who is also a past Chair of Dundee Rep Theatre. Sinclair served on the Board of Dundee Leisure and is also current Board Member of Dundee City Developments Ltd. He brings many years of business and management experience to the Board. A former Citizen of the Year and Lord Dean of Guild, Sinclair is also a Deputy Lieutenant of the City. Sinclair is a member of the Finance Committee and the Health, Safety and Property Commitee, and attends other Stakeholder Groups, as required.

Caroline has worked in arts policy and administration in London, Dundee, Stirling and Edinburgh. In 1986 she joined Dundee Rep as administrator for the new dance company and community drama programme until 1993. She was then appointed arts officer for Stirling District Council before moving to the Scottish Arts Council/Creative Scotland in 1995 where she led on partnership working with local authorities. Having retired from Creative Scotland in 2016, Caroline is now volunteering with Leuchars Church Regeneration project and with Hospitalfield in Arbroath, a cultural organisation for artists and education in the arts.

Gillian is Director of Creative Dundee, a platform which amplifies, connects and develops Dundee's creative scene. Gillian was appointed to the Board in 2014. Through its website, events and partnerships, Creative Dundee runs the popular Pecha Kucha Nights and also led the We Dundee project. Gillian's background is building capacity in design, innovation and enterprise, within the creative and cultural sectors and she has also worked extensively internationally. Gillian is currently the lead trustee for Cultural Services.

Gregory Colgan was appointed to the post of Executive Director of Corporate Services in June 2017, prior to which he was the Head of Customer Services and IT. The Corporate Services Department includes Corporate Finance, Customer Services & IT, HR and Business Support, and Democratic & Legal Services. Prior to joining the Council, Gregory worked in a Housing Association as Finance and IT Manager. Gregory trained as an Accountant with a Global Manufacturing and Engineering Organisation. Gregory is a member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Housing.

George retired in 2010 as Head Teacher at Menzieshill High School and previously Baldragon Academy. He has been strongly engaged and committed to Dundee throughout his career and was active in a number of the Dundee communities and involved in charity fund raising. He is a volunteer with Football Memories, Alzheimers Scotland, and Dundee Wurzburg Twinning Association. From 2014-2016 George was Captain of Broughty Golf Club. From 2011 until 2014, he was a Trustee and speaker with Tayside Pre-Retirement Council.

Ian is a retired bank executive with over 30 years' experience in senior management roles reporting to divisional board level within a UK plc. Currently a Business Consultant working with owner managed businesses to help source finance and develop new markets, and a Trustee of Dundee Disabled Children's Association. A member and past president of the Rotary Club of Dundee, Ian has a strong engagement with and commitment to the Dundee community. He serves as the lead independent trustee and Chair of the Finance Committee.

Louis is a digital artist, former pupil of Craigie High School, currently studying at college and in a placement program with Abertay University. Louis volunteers within Leisure & Culture Dundee, helping provide groups and services for Scotland's youth. He also works with the general public giving aid to those who are less skilful with computers and general technology. "I always aim to help others where I can and look forward to representing the views of young people on the Board of Leisure & Culture Dundee."
Appointed by Dundee City Council as Trustee in 2018
Michael represents the Lochee Ward on Dundee City Council as a Labour Councillor. He works in scientific and economic research at the University of Dundee with a focus on industrial development. He was previously Head of Policy for Oxfam. Michael served on Dundee’s Cultural Strategy Group from where the UK City of Culture 2017 and UNESCO City of Design bids were prepared. He was previously a board member of a modern art gallery and runs a child poverty charity that uses orchestral music tuition to engage children in education and life changing opportunity.

Moira is a former CEO of the Scottish Library and Information Council and an Honorary Vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland. She was Head of Libraries, Information and Cultural Services when she retired from Dundee City Council in 2011. This post comprised the management of libraries, art galleries, museums and community centres across the city, as well as deputising for the Director. From 2007 until 2015, she was a Trustee of the National Library and served on the Governance Committee and chaired the Staffing and Remuneration Committee. Moira is Chair of Leisure & Culture Dundee’s HR and Equalities Committee.

Stewart is an HM Inspector of Education with Education Scotland. He has over 12 years’ experience of a wide range of inspection models and is a member of the Education Scotland Area Lead Officer team. He regularly works with other European inspectorates in hosting international delegations. Stewart has extensive knowledge of Community Learning and Development both locally and nationally. Having worked as the Principal Community Learning and Development (CLD) Manager at Angus Council and a CLD Team Leader in Dundee, Stewart has a good sense of the challenges Dundee communities face. Outwith work Stewart is actively engaged in aquatics, competing nationally in Masters swimming and as a sub aqua instructor. As a triathlete he regularly competes in Half Ironman events.
Trustee appointed as Managing Director by Dundee City Council in 2011
Stewart is a founding trustee of Leisure & Culture Dundee and its Managing Director. He is also a member of Dundee City Council's Chief Officers Management Team in his capacity as Director, Leisure and Culture. Stewart led Dundee's bid for UK City of Culture in 2012/13 and chairs the UNESCO City of Design Group. Stewart serves on the Boards of Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre and several national organisations.
Appointed by Dundee City Council as Trustee in 2017
Will is an elected member for the SNP within Dundee City Council. After leaving school he went on to higher education studying hospitality at Inverness College and worked for a number of years in the industry. He has since gone on to work for a major utilities company in a variety of roles. He became a Councillor for the then Eastport ward in 2003 and has been proud to represent the East End ward in which he lives since 2007. Will has been the convener of the City Development committee and is currently the convener of the Development Management committee (Planning). He firmly believes that the city is quickly becoming the place to be and that organisations such as Leisure & Culture Dundee have a huge role to play in the renaissance of the city. Will is currently the Chair of the Health, Safety and Property Committee.
