Reconnect & Collect

We have been delighted by the great response to our digital services in recent months and are very proud to have maintained free access to a wide range of materials and resources during this difficult time, but we know our customers have really missed visiting our libraries and borrowing physical books.

It is our absolute priority to ensure we keep our customers and staff safe. While most of our libraries are now open to visitors we recognise that some of you may not be quite ready to do so just yet. Our new Reconnect & Collect Service can help.

How does it work?

Library staff will choose up to 10 books on your behalf. While placing reservations for specific items will not be possible at this time library staff will make every effort to choose items in response to the reading preferences you indicate at the booking stage. Items will be available for collection two working days later.

There are two ways to contact us and arrange your collection

By phone – call us, using the numbers below, during the opening hours. A member of library staff will take your details, discuss which kind of books you like and arrange a collection slot.

You can be assured all stock selected will be handled safely in accordance with current government guidance. Any returned items will be quarantined for a period of 72 hours before being included in selections to ensure you can be confident infection control requirements are met.

Collecting Your Order

All libraries will have entry and exit doors clearly marked. There may be a short wait before you can come in but appropriate social distancing measures have been put in place to ensure your safety.

As recommended by the Scottish Government a face covering should be worn when entering the building.

Reconnect & Collect FAQs

We've answered your questions below, but if you have any further queries, please call us on 01382 431539.

Reconnect & Collect is a new service we have introduced to allow library members to borrow books while we partially reopen our libraries. You tell us what kind of books you like to read and we will carefully select up to 10 suitable books. We will then give you a call to arrange a collection time where you can pick up your bag of books from the library.

Simply fill in the appropriate form using the links below or call using the number for your chosen library during opening hours. We will give you a call on the number provided you arrange a suitable collection time.

No, unfortunately our regular book request service is not available during this partial reopening period. We can't guarantee your selection will include books by your favourite authors but if you indicate when you place your order those you would like included where possible (or those you'd rather we avoid) we will do our very best to provide the closest possible match in your selection.

We will contact you to arrange a suitable time on the number you provide but we aim to have your items available two working days after we process your request.

We are carefully controlling the number of customers visiting at any time but please be aware there may be a short delay before you can enter.
