The Community Sports Hub is primarily based in the East side of Dundee and has good community engagement within the Douglas, Craigie and Mid Craigie areas of Dundee.
The group are comprised of two well established Football Clubs in the Craigie area, one is Dundee United Sports Club who have boys and girls football from 4 years old to adults. The club have well established 4 v 4 football centres in line with the Scottish Football Association's Player Pathway, with over 100 attending regularly. Craigmuir Tennis club was one of the founder members of Craigie CSH and boost their own facilities at Dalkeith Road. Founded in 1998, from the merger of Craigielea and Stobsmuir clubs, they have four blaze courts. All ages and abilities are catered for, and there is coaching available for junior and senior members.
Discovery Boxing Club are heavily linked with Dundee University Boxing Club. The boxing club has been in existence for over 15 years now and cater for youths and adults, competing at all different levels. They also run fitness sessions for local people.
Our newest member club is Dundee Eagles RFC, the youth section of Dundee High School FP RFC. Dundee Eagles officially joined in 2014. They have approximately 95 members and cater for boys and girls from Primary 1 to Primary 7.
The Hub also has a great relationship with Craigie High School and Dundee and Angus College, where we run a variety of projects together. The pupils at Craigie also use our 3G astrotuf for Curriculum PE.
Since its establishment the hub have refurbished 4 local shops into changing rooms and a facility for socialising, dance, fitness and meetings, built a new car park, redeveloped Monymusk Park and built a 3G astroturf facility. These developments have allowed the hub to develop dance groups and engage with local residents to increase individual club memberships. The hubs main achievement has been upgrading the blaze pitch at Craigie High School to a state of the art floodlit 3G pitch for football and rugby. The hub committee are now concentrating on building a resource centre which will include changing rooms next to Craigie Community Sports Arena.
The current clubs within the Hub are all based within the Douglas, Craigie and Mid Craigie area of Dundee with the majority of developments being around Huntly Square changing facility, Monymusk Park area and Craigie Community Sports Arena.
