Miller's shop, Nethergate, Dundee

Decoration with animal furs on Miller's shop, Nethergate, Dundee - Ref: WC1788

Furrier, Arthur A. Miller has used animal pelts to decorate his premises. This was possibly in celebration of a royal event, as there are also decorations on the lamp standard on the right of the photograph.

That it was not his usual practise would appear to be confirmed by the small crowd of spectators in front of the shop. The Remington school of Typewriting has also attracted interest with their window display.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
