This photograph, taken from the southern end of Reform Street, shows Dundee's Town House and the south eastern section of the High Street.

W. T. Kennedy, draper, tailor and clothier, was last listed at No. 19 High Street in the Dundee Directory of 1892-93.

The spirit merchant below was A. W. R. Birrell, at No. 18. His advertisement in the directory of 92-93 highlights Birrell's special 10-year-old blend, at 3/6 [ = just under 18p] per bottle and 21/- [a guinea = £1.05] per gallon.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
