Since opening in 1935, Mills Observatory has inspired generations of visitors to explore the night sky through powerful telescopes, fascinating exhibits and hands-on learning experiences. Whether you're a seasoned astronomer or simply curious about the cosmos, there's something here for everyone.

Admission
Entry to the observatory and use of all equipment is free, although donations are warmly welcomed.
Car Parking
A small car park is available at the entrance to the Observatory, including accessible parking spaces.
Toilets
Visitor toilets are available within the Observatory.
Accessibility
Accessible parking is available adjacent to the building. Please contact us if you have any specific access requirements before your visit.
Pets
Dogs are welcome in Balgay Park but are not permitted inside the Observatory building, with the exception of assistance dogs.

Explore the Night Sky Together
Book a private group visit to the observatory. Enjoy an astronomy talk, a tour of our historic building, and dome viewing (weather permitting). Suitable for groups of up to 30 people. £35 per group.

Located within Balgay Park on the western side of Dundee, Mills Observatory is easily accessible from the city centre and offers a peaceful woodland setting with spectacular views across the city.
By Road
Mills Observatory is approximately 10 minutes from Dundee City Centre by car. A small visitor car park is available at the entrance to the Observatory.
By Bus
Regular bus services operate along Glamis Road and surrounding routes, with stops within walking distance of Balgay Park..

By Rail
Dundee Railway Station is approximately 10 minutes away by taxi. Visitors can combine public transport with a short walk through Balgay Park. Full information on train times and ticket costs can be found at Trainline.com
