Royal visit decorations,Whitehall Crescent, Union Street, Dundee - Ref: WC1673

View of corner of Union Street and Whitehall Crescent from what is now the steps leading to the bridge over the road.

Union Street appears to have no decorations visible but plenty of banners in Whitehall Crescent with one proclaiming "Agriculture". There is a clear picture of an advertising hoarding for Singer Sewing Machines and Carpet Beaters from Dundee Dye Works

The Duke and his party will arrive at Tay Bridge Station and head the procession to Victoria Hospital for the Incurables where he will open the hospital. The procession will then return to unveil the statue of Queen Victoria in Albert Square.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923
