High Street, Dundee - Ref: WC0250
This photograph shows the southern side of Dundee High Street from the northern end of Castle Street at the left to the Nethergate at the right (and west).
It was taken before 1899 when the present Royal Bank of Scotland was built. D. M. Allan (the perfumer and hairdresser at No 1) lived in Westfield House, Broughty Ferry. W. A. Higgie does not appear in any Dundee Directory.
William Doig the druggist and chemist also had a shop at 113 Albert Street.
Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
