Gaelic Lunchtime Concerts return with an exciting programme of some of the best Gaelic and traditional young singers and performers live at the Marryat Hall.

Wed 16 October 2024 - Diciadain 16mh An Dàmhair - Niamh MacKaveney & Calum McIlroy

A duo comprising two of Scotland’s finest emerging traditional artists, Calum Mcilroy and Niamh MacKaveney, have come together with a joint vision to deliver high-quality performances of the traditional music they love. On mandolin, guitar, and vocals, Calum demonstrates his intricate flat-picking and distinct skill in composing lyrical melodies and narrative song. Niamh MacKaveney on violin and Gaelic song.

Wed 6 November 2024 - Diciadain 6mh An t-Samhain - Josie Duncan

Josie Duncan is a captivating folk-inspired songwriter and an award-winning singer from the Outer Hebridean Isle of Lewis. With a voice that radiates warmth and vulnerability, Josie effortlessly weaves together soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics, captivating audiences worldwide. Growing up surrounded by the rich musical heritage of the Western Isles, Josie’s passion for music was ignited at an early age. Inspired by the folk traditions passed down through generations, she immersed herself in the captivating stories and melodies that defined her homeland’s cultural tapestry.

Wed 4 December 2024 - Diciadain 4mh An Dubhlachd - Roo & Neil

Roo Geddes and Neil Sutcliffe combine their shared experience across Classical, Folk and Jazz to create original music for violin and accordion. Based in Glasgow, their compositions are inspired by landscape and people and by how music can evoke a sense of place and community. In January 2021, the duo was selected for the prestigious ‘Danny Kyle Award’.
