Mills Observatory Reopens with Return of Popular Planetarium Shows
Mills Observatory will reopen to visitors on 1 October, welcoming the visitors back for a new season of stargazing, astronomy events and its popular indoor planetarium shows.
The UK's first purpose-built public observatory will once again offer visitors the opportunity to explore the wonders of the universe throughout the autumn and winter months.
This year's programme coincides with a spectacular season for skywatching, with several major celestial events visible from Scotland over the coming months. Visitors can look out for the Pleiades star cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters, the Orionid and Leonid meteor showers, a planetary parade featuring Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Mercury and November's Beaver Supermoon.
To help people discover more about what can be seen above Dundee's skies, Mills Observatory's popular planetarium shows will return from October through to March.
Led by the Mills team, the shows offer a guided journey through the night sky, highlighting seasonal constellations, planets and astronomical phenomena that visitors can look out for themselves.

Tickets cost £3 for adults and £1.50 for children. The shows are recommended for ages eight and over and places can be booked one month in advance.

Visitors can also enjoy the observatory's telescopes and panoramic views across Dundee from its unique setting in Balgay Park.
