Leisure & Culture Dundee provides support for Ukrainians in the city

Leisure & Culture Dundee has launched a webpage with resources to support Ukrainian citizens arriving in Dundee. These are intended to help those displaced to the city and allow them to settle into their new surroundings.

Free 12-week access to gyms, swimming pools and Dundee Ice Arena are among the options available to families and individuals. There are also early years, children's activities, Parklives and Steps to Health programmes on offer.

The webpage, which provides translation into Ukrainian, has published links from Dundee Libraries to useful websites, including the free Odilo app which offers free access to over 1800 reading titles in Ukrainian. Also available are 'Quick Reads' in English, a series of short books with no more than 128 pages that are a great way to help improve language skills.

Leisure Reading and Central Children’s at Central Library now have adult and children's books to borrow in Ukrainian and some will be available to schools through the School Library Service. Dundee Libraries also have free, openly accessible WiFi. Libraries are safe and welcoming spaces where everyone can drop in and spend time reading, relaxing or learning.

Moira Methven, Chair of Leisure & Culture Dundee, said

"We are aware of an increasing need for relevant information and services for Ukrainian citizens arriving in Dundee. Leisure & Culture Dundee is focussing on delivering up-to-date, easily accessible information on what we can offer through a dedicated page."

Ukrainian citizens and their hosts can access the webpage via http://www.leisureandculturedundee.com/support-ukrainians
