Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce has nominated Leisure & Culture Dundee for a Chamber Champion Award in the Net Zero category for Dundee Design Festival 2024!
Why have we been nominated?
Our 2024 host venue, Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc, is powered by both clean energy (from onsite wind turbines) and sustainable energy (from the nearby Baldovie Energy from Waste Facility) and supported us to create one of the world’s most sustainable design festivals.
Our fully electric sustainable transport partner Ember has direct routes from Edinburgh and Glasgow, and a bus stop directly outside MSIP, ensuring our visitors, designers, staff and volunteers travelled to and from the site in a sustainable way.
We achieved our aim of using less than 15% virgin materials across the festival's infrastructure which included using mis-tinted waste paint stock and borrowing or hiring items rather than creating brand new infrastructure. After the event, our festival materials were donated, sold on and stored for future events to avoid unnecessary wastage.
