What is Coach by Colour?


Put simply it’s an indoor cycle class that shows you exactly how hard you are working through colour! Let the intuitive and accurate technology of our ICG bikes and expertise of our instructors take the guess work out of your workout and individualise every workout in a group setting. Whether or not you are a complete beginner or elite level cyclist our CBC range are for everyone!

Each class is designed to work with the five coach by colour training zones which challenge you to ride to a percentage range of your personal FTP. It doesn’t matter how your FTP ( functional threshold power), compares to other riders in the class because it’s entirely personal to you.

Watt is FTP?

Functional Threshold Power (FTP) is the maximum power you can hold for a period of time.

Why Is It Important?

Knowing your FTP allows you to train more efficiently and effectively compared to other methods of measuring intensity, such as Perceived Exertion or Heart Rate, which can be influenced by other external factors (e.g.: heat).

How do I know Watt my FTP is?

You can do a 5 min, 20 minute or Ramp test. Once you have your FTP score you can easily track your progress and fitness improvements over time.

Your FTP will change as you become fitter and stronger, so we recommend re-testing every 6-8 weeks to maintain an accurate score. This will ensure your classes remain challenging but achievable, delivering the maximum benefit every time.

FTP is personal to every rider and is affected by many different variables, including body weight, gender, overall fitness, and cycling experience.

In other words, there is no perfect result for everyone to aim towards because FTP is your personal score, it allows each cycle workout to be customized.

Can I still take part if I don’t have an FTP?

Absolutely, you can get a guestimate by entering your details through power training mode.

CBC Endurance

Combine sprints, hills, flats and intervals in a high energy workout that is guaranteed to give you a huge endorphin rush. The ultimate cardio based cycle workout!

 


 

CBC Strength

Get ready to take on those hills in our Climb focused class, designed to push you out of your comfort zone. Expect high resistance and low cadence! Feel the burn and sweat your way to a higher FTP.

 


 

CBC HIIT

Get ready to feel the burn in our short, sharp CBC HIIT Ride. Expect bouts of high cadence and lower resistance power intervals interspersed with short rest periods. Gaurenteed to get you faster and fitter in no time!
