10 FUN WAYS TO KEEP THE KIDS ACTIVE THIS SUMMER with Leisureactive
With 6 long weeks off school coming up, it’s the perfect time for kids to burn off some energy and try new activities. We are here to help with ten exciting ideas to keep them active and entertained all summer long.
1. Olympia Leisure Pools
Dive into the fun at Olympia where the whole family can enjoy 4 thrilling flumes, wave machines, bubble beds and our lazy river. There’s also a separate toddler pool for little swimmers. It's a fantastic way to cool off and have a blast 7 days a week – no booking required! PLUS with our special summer Member Rewards platinum offer you can exchange 100 points for a free family ticket – this means 2 adults and up to 3 kids can enjoy a day out at Olympia together. With free parking at the Olympia car park for everyone all July this means you can enjoy a fantastic day out without spending a single penny.
2. LACD Holiday Camps
Sign the kids up for one of our Summer Holiday Camps - choose from dance, football, gymnastics and more! These camps are a great way for them to make new friends and take part in creative and physical activities. Perfect for busy parents with most of the activity programme camps running all day Mon-Fri. 3. Aquatics Camps
Something you won’t find from any other providers this summer is our huge range of aquatics camps. Your kids will learn valuable skills - whether it’s improving their swimming abilities, learning water safety, or engaging in new aquatic sports - these summer camps have something for everyone. With activities designed for different age groups and skill levels, kids can get active, socialise and gain confidence in and around the water. 10% discount also offered to Leisureactive Junior & Teen members.
- School Age Intensive Swim Lessons for kids aged 5-8. These lessons build water confidence for beginners. Held at St Paul's on July 8-12 and July 29-August 2, with sessions from 9:30am to 10:00am and 10:00am to 10:30am.
- Rookie Lifeguard Camps are ideal for kids aged 8-14 who can swim in deep water and confidently swim 25 meters. Teaching water safety through fun activities leading to awards, starting with the Bronze Award, camps are being held at Olympia on July 11-15 and July 22-26 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
- Splash Camps are designed for children aged 8-12 offering taster activities like Waterpolo, Rookie Lifeguard, and Artistic Swimming. Also at Olympia, on the same dates as Rookie Lifeguard Camps but from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
4. Sport & Splash Camps
You don’t even have to choose between dry-side and water-based activities! Book your kids into a Sport & Splash Camp and they can participate in a variety of sports such as football, basketball, dodgeball and playground games and then cool off in the pool after. Sport and Splash camps provide a great opportunity to sample many different sports over the week, all whilst having fun and making friends. 5. Ancrum Outdoors Activity Days
Got more adventurous kids? Ancrum Outdoor Centre offers adrenaline fuelled adventure days out with activities like gorge walking, canoeing & kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling, cave exploring and bush craft. These exciting experiences will get those aged 8-15 out of their comfort zones and into nature. Don’t forget the member discount for an unforgettable adventure for less! 6. Teen Summer Pool Parties
Kids aged 10-16 can enjoy exclusive use of the pool with music, beach balls and pool toys every Friday from 7.30 to 9pm at either Grove or Harris Swim & Sports Centres. With no booking required, grab all your friends and make a splash. Free access for Leisureactive members and just £4 pay-as-you-go.

7. Racket Sports for the whole family
We offer Pickleball, Badminton and Table Tennis across 6 centres – so when rainy days inevitably come along (it is Scotland after all) head to one of our sports halls and enjoy a game. All equipment is provided and racket sports are included in all Leisureactive memberships (time/location dependent).
- Pickleball is an exciting blend of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, perfect for all ages and abilities. Join the Intro to Pickleball sessions or participate in social group sessions available at Douglas, Menzieshill, Grove and St Paul’s or make a last-minute Book to Play booking via the app and take a partner.
- For fast-paced games, badminton can be played as singles or doubles. It's available at DISC, Douglas, Menzieshill, Grove, Harris and St Paul’s, making it a super accessible, easy and fun way for the family to stay fit together. Book to Play via the app.
- Table Tennis is great for building agility and speed. This indoor sport is perfect for all ages and is available at DISC, Douglas, and Menzieshill. Just give the centre a call to make your booking,

8. Dundee Ice Arena
Beat the summer heat by taking the kids to the Ice Arena for some ice-skating fun. It's a great way to stay active indoors while staying cool. Junior and Teen members receive a 50p discount on entry and all members can exchange 50 Member Rewards points for 1 free entry including skate hire!
9. Family Fun Gymnastics at McTaggart
LACD are thrilled to provide families with the opportunity to access and use the fantastic facilities at the Dick McTaggart Gymnastics Centre where children up to the age of 13 can come along and have fun with a parent or guardian on selected Sundays. Have a go on the balance beams & horses, jump into the foam pits and show off your flips on the trampolines and mats.
Sessions run on Sunday 7th/14th/21st/28th July at 11.45am and 2.45pm.
10. Ready Steady Go summer activities
Our regular early years programmes usually take a break over the summer, but this year we have planned a whole host of pop-up sessions to keep the under 5s (and their parents) occupied. Choose from Family Gymtime, Messy Play, Little Movers, Little Kickers, Water play and loads more! For the parents who want to work on their fitness while your little one plays, try an Oh Baby! Fitness class. These can all be booked and paid for individually (use your junior member code for free entry to everything!) so choose the sessions that suit you and get ready for engaging, creative and active play over the next 6 weeks.
