Racket Sports


Here at Leisure & Culture Dundee, we are proud to offer a variety of indoor racket sports across 6 of our facilities. What’s more, as a Leisureactive member, you can now play Pickleball, Badminton and Table Tennis for FREE as part of your membership.

With different ways to book depending on how you want to play:

Hire a Court– if you want to book one or more courts at the same time each week for a set period of time (or long term) then you should continue to contact the facility directly to make your booking and pay for your court hire.

Book to Play - FREE for Leisureactive members - book a space on court to play up to 5 days in advance as a member or 3 days in advance for pay-as-you-go. Book on the app to see up-to-date availability*. The lead booker secures the court and the rest of the players simply swipe in or pay on arrival.

Pickleball

Played as singles or doubles and suitable for all ages & abilities, Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton and table-tennis. As one of the world’s fastest growing sports, the game is easy to learn and simple to play.

Our Intro to Pickleball Sessions are continuing, where you can try out the basic skills and learn the rules all with a coach on hand. We have also added the option of Group Pickleball Sessions which allow you to come along and play for fun with others in a sociable group. Taking place at Douglas, Grove and St Paul’s each week, these are also free for members.

Intro and Group Pickleball is free for members.  For pay-as-you-go, or those playing out with their membership type, adults will pay £4.30 and kids and concessions will pay £3.30.

Badminton

One of the UK’s most popular racket sports, Badminton is a fast-paced racket sport that can be played either as singles or doubles, with the aim of hitting a shuttlecock over a high net into your opponent's court.

  • Book to Play Badminton is available at DISC, Douglas, Menzieshill, Grove, Harris & St Paul's.
  • Free for Leisureactive members.
  • Prices for pay-as-you-go or those playing out-with their membership type: adults £4.30/concession & under 18s £3.30/Active Lifestyle adult £3.60/Active Lifestyle concession & child £2.80
  • Hire a Court price: Standard £11/Concession £7/Juvenile £7 per court

 

Table Tennis

Also known as Ping-Pong and played using a table-top court, Table Tennis helps you build skill, agility and speed. The perfect indoor social sport for all ages and abilities.

  • Book to Play Badminton is available to play at: DISC, Douglas & Menzieshill
  • Free for Leisureactive members.
  • Prices for pay-as-you-go or those playing out-with their membership type: adults £3.40/concession & under 18s £2.80/Active Lifestyle adult £3.10/Active Lifestyle concession & child £2.50
  • Hire a Court price: Standard £6/Concession £4.50/Juvenile £4.50 per court

 

Booking Information


Making a Book to Play booking:


  1. Make sure you are logged into the Leisureactive app Need to create a free pay-as-you-go account? Click here
  2. Tap ‘Racket Sports Bookings’ on your chosen facility page
  3. Select your sport and tap on the image to enter
  4. Select a court or tap ‘All’ to see all availability
  5. Choose a date across the top and select an available time slot (shown in green)
  6. Check all the details are correct and hit BOOK
  7. Confirm your booking in the pop-up
  8. If you have any payment to make, it will be taken at this stage.
  9. Go to ‘My Bookings’ on the homescreen to view and manage your bookings if required

Remember that this method is for Book to Play Pickleball and Badminton only. Book to Play Table Tennis bookings should be made by calling or visiting the relevant facility directly.

 

Making a Hire a Court booking:


Call your chosen facility directly, or make your booking in person at reception during a visit. Alternatively contact the Sports Booking team via email on sports.bookings@leisureandculturedundee.com. Hire a Court bookings can be made in advance with no restrictions and can be block booked.

Terms & Conditions


  1. If booking with less than 2-hours’ notice, or booking out-with operating hours, please call the facility directly to let staff know about your booking in advance of arriving. This will allow our Leisure Attendants time to set up the court and equipment in time for your arrival.
  2. Racket Sport court bookings are subject to availability and can be made within the operating hours of each facility when a court is free.
    • DISC – Mon-Fri 6-10pm, Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9am-9pm
    • Douglas – Mon-Fri 9am-10pm, Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9am-9pm
    • Menzieshill – Mon-Fri 9am-10pm, Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9am-9pm
    • Grove – Mon – Fri 6-10pm, Sat & Sun 9am-12pm
    • Harris – Mon – Fri 6-10pm, Sat & Sun 9am-12pm
    • St Paul’s – Mon – Fri 6-10pm, Sat & Sun 9am-12pm
  3. All players must have a Concession Sub on their account in order to Hire a Court at the Concessionary rate. All players must be Juveniles (under 18) in order to Hire a Court at the Juvenile rate.
  4. Book to Play bookings can be made through the Leisureactive app or online via CONNECT 5 days in advance for Leisureactive members and 3 days in advance for pay-as-you-go customers. Bookings can also be made in person at centre receptions during opening hours.
  5. Please only book the slots you are confident you can attend and cancel any bookings you no longer wish to attend as soon as possible. This allows others to take advantage of the time slot and ensures everyone can enjoy access to Racket Sports.
  6. You must swipe in at reception when arriving for your session to record your attendance.
  7. Availability of courts included free in membership depends on your membership type. Off Peak & Gen Fit members play for free Mon-Fri from opening until 4pm (last booking time 3pm). CommunityFit members play for free at Grove, Harris & St Paul’s Swim & Sports Centres.
  8. Hire a Court bookings are excluded from free member access.
