Introduction
Leisure and Culture Dundee have organised the Dundee Sports Awards to celebrate the great achievements of sports clubs, schools and individuals in Dundee over the last year.
Tonights awards are focused on the theme of Changing Lives through Sport, demonstrating the profound impact that sport can have on people of all backgrounds and across all levels, from grassroots participation to elite level athletes. It is truly inspiring to witness how sports clubs and schools are harnessing the power of sport to address broader societal issues, such as academic achievement, the cost-of-living crisis or tackling anti-social behaviour, as reflected in some of the nominations you will hear about tonight. This demonstrates the immense value that sport plays in shaping our local communities.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers across sport in Dundee, who willingly give up their time to enable others to participate and achieve in sport. We would like to thank the successful nominees and category winners as well as the people who have taken the time to put forward a nomination.
A special thanks to our sponsors who make this event possible. We greatly value your support and recognise the impact this makes to acknowledging the contribution sport makes to the citizens of Dundee.
Please enjoy this special occasion where we celebrate sport in Dundee.
