Rosebank Primary School – Changing Lives Award (School) 22/23

Dundee Sports Awards – previous winner profile

Rosebank Primary School picked up the Changing Lives Award for schools at the 22/23 Dundee Sports Awards.

The school has a refreshing and empowering view towards health and wellbeing, towards not only the young people within the school, but the wider school community including families and carers. The school acknowledges that changing and embedding positive healthy behaviours must include the whole family unit.

As a result a 15 week, Best Foot Forward, healthy lifestyle programme was created through multiple partner input including NHS Tayside, Active Schools, Dundee Bairns, Tayside contracts & Dental Health team with the aim to create and sustain healthy habits for life. The emphasis is placed on using sport and physical activity as the vehicle to drive conversation around the wider health and wellbeing of individuals and families.

Jillian Walker, Active Schools Coordinator for the Morgan Academy Cluster said

"Rosebank Primary School is still blown away by receiving a Dundee Sports Award last year. The acknowledgement of the school's commitment to promoting a thriving and inclusive sports environment has further fueled our enthusiasm to enhance and develop projects throughout the year."

"Our dedicated Activity Inclusion Worker and passionate school staff play a huge role in identifying and supporting children to engage with sport and physical activity or PE, offering a variety of clubs for children to attend. We are seeing fantastic results from taking a holistic approach to engaging and delivering sport, focusing on a positive social environment."

"Rosebank has participated in festivals and events, including some Additional Support Needs (ASN) events this year, showcasing our commitment to inclusivity. Our Best Foot Forward family program is running again with ten new fantastic families involved, with the addition of mental health and puberty topics, considering a broader approach to well-being. With the year ahead, we aim to change behaviours and mindsets within and beyond the school community for all our Rosebank children and families."
