Last Chance to Visit Mills Observatory This Season

Dundee's historic Mills Observatory will temporarily close to the public at the end of the day on Tuesday 31 March, marking the end of their winter season after six months of 90th anniversary celebrations.

Visitors still have time to enjoy the final days of the season, including panoramic views over the city, astronomy displays and activities before the building closes temporarily over the summer months. Although the Observatory will close for normal opening, it will be open for selected events over the summer period, with details to be announced.

If skies are clear, visitors can enjoy bright views of the Moon's craters, a brilliant Jupiter high in the south and the emerging spring constellations in the final week before closing.

Mills Observatory will reopen later in the year in October with a refreshed programme of events, stargazing sessions and family activities. Full details of reopening dates and upcoming events will be announced in due course through their website and social media.

Anna Day, Head of Culture & Libraries at Leisure & Culture Dundee said,

"As we approach the end of our season, we want to thank everyone who has visited and supported the Observatory so far. For anyone still hoping to come along, there's time before 31 March to enjoy the last of this year's nightsky highlights. We also look forward to welcoming visitors back when we reopen later in the year with another exciting programme celebrating astronomy for all ages."
