Dundee Active Schools Kit for All Project: Helping Dundee Families

Dundee Active Schools and Dundee Bairns have launched Kit for All, an initiative that provides free, pre-loved sports clothing and equipment to individuals and families in need. The partnership aims to make sports and physical activity accessible to everyone while promoting environmental sustainability.

Kit for All ensures that children and families in Dundee can participate in sports without the financial burden of purchasing new sports kit. From trainers and football boots to tracksuits and jerseys, donated items will help remove barriers to participation, fostering healthier and more active lifestyles.

The initiative also reduces waste and encourages recycling by reusing and redistributing pre-loved sports kits. Kit for All is a simple yet impactful way to combine community support with environmental responsibility.

Kit for All is delivered in partnership with Dundee Bairns, a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Dundee. Known for its impactful programmes addressing poverty and well-being, Dundee Bairns brings its community expertise to ensure donations reach those who need them most.

Families are encouraged to clear out their wardrobes and donate pre-loved sports gear in good condition and schools across Dundee are acting as collection points.

James Fenna, Active Schools Manager at Active Dundee, said

"We are pleased to be working with Dundee Bairns on the Kit for All initiative. Together, we can help children and families most in need have access to the sports equipment they require."

Dundee City Council's Children, Families and Communities Convener Stewart Hunter said

“We understand how important it is for children and families to be active and engaged with sport. That’s why this initiative is so valuable as it removes barriers for those wanting to participate in sport and encourages sustainability in our young people.”

Genna Millar from Dundee Bairns said

"Dundee Bairns believes no child should go without - we are delighted to be able to support this initiative for children who might otherwise face barriers to accessing activities vital to their health and wellbeing."
