On Sunday, the Community Sport Hub of the Lochee Area was launched. The hub, which covers the whole geographical area of the Lochee Ward brings local sports clubs and organisations together to work in partnership with the aim of increasing sport and physical activity opportunities available in Lochee, subsequently bringing positive physical, mental and social benefits to local people.
The hub is open to all organisations in the Lochee Ward who wish to support sport and physical activity to have a positive impact on individual's lives. Over 80 people attended Menzieshill Community Hub on Sunday afternoon to participate in badminton, boxing, football and tennis as the hub was launched. Currently the hub includes Dryburgh Athletic Community Club, Dundee United Community Trust, Lochee Boys & Girls Club, Lochee Harp and Lochee United in addition to local partners including schools/Active Schools, Lochee Tenants and Residents' Association and Street Soccer.
The Hub is supported by Leisure and Culture Dundee's, Community Sport Hub Officer who has brought together local organisations to create the new Community Sport Hub of the Lochee Area.

"The Community Sport Hub of the Lochee Area has been developed as a result of local consultation which outlined the need for more sport and physical activity opportunities locally in the Lochee Ward. We have already run a collective multi-sport summer camp at St Ninians Primary School which was very positively received. The new Community Sport Hub is an exciting development for the Lochee community, and I look forward to working with local sports clubs, members of the community and local partners to meet the needs of people in Lochee"
The Community Sport Hub of the Lochee Area is part of sportscotland's community sport hubs programme, and with National Lottery-funded support helps bring clubs and local organisations together to grow the sporting offering in their communities.
