New Acting Director, Leisure & Culture and Managing Director for Leisure & Culture Dundee

Leisure & Culture Dundee and Dundee City Council have confirmed that Judy Dobbie, Head of Library and Information Services, has been appointed as Acting Director of Leisure and Culture and Managing Director, Leisure and Culture Dundee.

Ms Dobbie has been Head of Library & Information Services since 2011 and will formally take over the role in January 2020. She will co-work with the existing Director, Stewart Murdoch until the beginning of the new year.

She said: "Leisure and Culture Dundee is a fantastic organisation and everyone can be really proud of what has been achieved so far.

"I have a strong commitment to Dundee and the services we provide, so I really can't wait to get started and look forward to the challenges ahead."

Councillor John Alexander, Leader of Dundee City Council, said: "I am delighted to welcome Judy to her new role.

"These are exciting times for Leisure and Culture Dundee and the city, from the opening shortly of the new Regional Performance Centre for Sport to the fantastic opportunities provided by the city's ever-growing creative and cultural offering.

"I know Judy will have lots of ideas on how we continue to deliver high-quality leisure, sport, cultural and learning experiences for citizens and visitors, and I look forward to working with her."

Mr Murdoch added: "It has been a fantastic privilege to have held this role and I am delighted that Judy will be taking over the role and will have the opportunity to build on the strong position that Leisure & Culture Dundee has in the city.
