Learn to Dive
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our NEW Learn to Dive program at Dundee’s Olympia - the city’s only diving facility. Our program is designed for children aged 5 and up, who are currently attending school. With a team of experienced, qualified coaches, we are dedicated to supporting, encouraging, and building confidence in young divers within our state-of-the-art facilities. The program follows the National Framework for Diving, offering four progressive levels that smoothly transition participants into club-level diving for those aiming to compete.
Important information you need to know:
- Participants must be able to swim 10 metres comfortably and be confident in deep water
- Children must be 5 years over and currently attending school
- Coaches are qualified to governing body standard
- Sessions are currently Sundays between 9am - 12noon (Dundee school term time)

Learn to Dive FAQs
+ What will the swim test entail?
Participants will be asked to swim in 10 metres continuously with their face in the water, showing they are comfortable and confidence.
+ What can I do if unsure regarding swim ability?
Email the Aquatics Team to ask advice - aquaticactivities@leisureandculturedundee.com.
+ What depth is the diving pool?
Our diving pool is 4 metres deep.
Unfortunately, divers cannot wear goggles.
+ What supervision is in place?
The Diving pool will be under the supervision of our qualified lifeguards and the dive coaches are experienced in supervising and controlling sessions.
+ Can parents/carers/guardians leave the facility during the class?
Children 7yrs and under must be accompanied to, during and from the lesson. Children 8 years and over we respectfully ask the supervising adult to remain within the facility.
Our programme operates 9-12noon on Sundays and during the Dundee School term time.
+ Is Learn to Dive included in Leisureactive memberships?
We’re excited that Learn to Dive will be available as part of Leisureactive membership however, as spaces are limited during the initial introductory period and to ensure everyone has access to aquatic programmes at Olympia, members will only be eligible to access one ‘Learn to’ programme at any one time: Learn to Swim or Learn to Dive. Thanks for your understanding.
Teen Learn to Dive
We are excited to launch our NEW Learn to Dive programme for Dundee, Olympia offers the only diving facility in Dundee. Our Learn to Dive programme is suitable for aged 13+ to get active, learn new skills and grow in confidence in the water and with the others.
This programme aligns to the National Framework for Diving, offering 4 progressive levels which can lead seamlessly into club participation for those aspiring to compete.

Supervised Dive Session
These sessions are open to our Leisure Pool customers and hosted by our qualified Diving Coaches. Our Supervised Dive Session is a NEW addition to our programme supprting safe use of our diving boards under the watchful eye of a qualified coach who will give you expert advice on how to dive safely, starting with the 1m boards. The coach will assess whether you are ready to progress up to the higher platforms and ensure the safe use of the boards throughout your session. Simply turn up and get going! You must be able to swim 10 metres and be confident in deep water.
