Disability Sport
A range of sport and physical activity sessions are provided on a weekly basis for people with a disability. The sessions are designed to allow a fully inclusive experience regardless of your ambitions to be physically active. Each activity has been tailored to suit they co needs of the individuals who attend therefore please get in contact to discuss the benefits of each programme before attending. Currently all our programmes are suitable for adults only however, this will be developed further to include child classes too. Please keep checking back here.

Locations
Dundee has a wealth of facilities on its doorstep. Each facility selected for the activity has been chosen based on the access requirements for the users of the activity and to deliver the best experience for the participants.
Programmes
Carpet Bowls (Oct-Mar)
Carpet bowls is held at Douglas Sports Centre. This is an ideal introduction to the sport of bowls as it is accessible to a wide range of people with a disability.
Football
Held weekly at Soccerworld on Mondays and Fridays, these sessions are suitable for players who are ambulant. All sessions are organised to develop each individual players’ skill level and teamwork.
Adapted Cycling
These friendly, fun sessions are targeting people with a range of disabilities including upper and lower limb impairments. We have a range of adapted bikes including a wheelchair accessible bike, tandems, trikes and hand bike, so something for all. Helmets and tuition provided.
Active Adults Multisports
Held at Douglas Sports Centre. These sessions provide various activities which include Boccia and Carpet Bowls. These sessions are suitable for a wide range of disabilities. It is an ideal session to come along and try different sports to find one that you may enjoy.
Swimming
These swimming sessions are NOT swimming lessons but an ideal opportunity to come along and be physically active while socialise with your peers. This is organised as a separate activity and as such, we have full access to the pool to ourselves..
Tayside Regional Boccia Squad (By Invite Only)
Boccia is an excellent inclusive sport for all. Similar to French boules/petanque, Boccia is a target sport using leather balls played on a badminton court.
Tayside Boccia squad is a regional development squad for invited players.
Health Walk
Our free health walks provide an excellent chance to meet up with friends and have a walk, chat and a cuppa. Socialising is an important part of these walks which encourages you to get fit without realising it. Fresh air, guided walks and great company.
Lawn Bowls (Apr-Sep)
Lawn Bowls is held at Balgay Bowling Club. This is an ideal introduction to the sport of bowls as it is accessible to a wide range of people with a disability.

Events
Leisure and Culture Dundee organise an annual disability calendar of events that links from our weekly programme into local, regional and national event structures. Currently these events are under review and once completed will be posted here.
Disability Awareness Training
All coaches within Leisure and Culture Dundee have undertaken relevant Disability Awareness training within a sporting environment to ensure a positive experience is enjoyed by all participants.
Disability Awareness Training Service
Training, which will include a mixture of practical and theoretical delivery which will focus on how to positively include people with a disability in physical activity in sport, can also be provided to external organisations which can be organised using the contact details above.
