For Adults - Whitfield's Reading Group meets every fourth Monday from 12 -1 pm. Although the group is small we are all keen readers and enjoy meeting for a friendly chat about the book we have just read, over a cup of tea and biscuits. We all have a say in choosing the books we read and are keen to try out new authors and titles. New members are very welcome.
Every Wednesday morning we have an Introduction to Computing class run by our volunteer tutor Ian. The class is held from 9.30 am -11.30 am with a break for coffee. If you feel you would like to learn about computers at your own pace with other complete beginners then speak to one of the library staff. Computers need not be terrifying any more. At the class you can learn how to email friends and family or search the internet. Library staff can also give you one-to-one taster sessions before you join the class or if the class is unsuitable for you.
Whitfield's Local History group meets on Thursday mornings from 9.30 am -12 noon. The group are very keen and are always looking for new members.
Whitfield's local councillor - Brian Gordon holds his weekly surgery on Saturday mornings from 12.20 pm - 12.50 pm (term time only).
Contact a member of staff for further details of any of these activities and to book a place.
For Children - Whitfield library is a busy place for children. As well as our selection of books there is free access to our computers for home work research or playing online games or music.

During school holidays there are activities, competitions and the Summer Reading Scheme to take part in. Throughout the year we have colouring sheets and word searches to do.
You are never too young to join the library. Babies (0-2 years), mums, dads and grandparents can join in songs, stories and rhymes at our Bookbug Sessions on Tuesday afternoons 2.15 - 3.00 pm. On Wednesday afternoons 2.15 pm to 2.45 pm we have storytimes for under 5's.
Storysacks are wonderful resources for young children to share and enjoy with a parent or carer. The contents of the sacks include story books and non-fiction books, with puppets, games and toys linked to the story.
Storysacks are issued to the adult who is responsible for ensuring the contents are carefully looked after.
Speak to a member of staff for further details.
In addition to the above regular events throughout the year we also have a number of special events such as author visits and medal ceremonies for children completing the Summer Reading Scheme.
