Leisure Reading Centre

The Leisure Reading Centre, situated on the Lending Floor, contains a large collection of material for loan.

Books

Fiction to suit all tastes, including the latest bestsellers, and non-fiction covering all subjects, can be borrowed here. Books in large print are also available. There is a selection of popular fiction and non-fiction for teenagers. We also have a wide range of titles with a local and Scottish theme.

Books in Other Languages

As well as books in Eastern European languages, books in other languages are also available. These include Spanish, German, Italian, French, Urdu, Chinese, Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Polsh, Czech and Bulgarian.

Language Courses

A wide range of language courses is available on C.D. These may be borrowed for a period of three weeks.

Specialist Study

Specialist study books are available in the Teenage Library and the department can supply reading lists for specialist study. Multiple copies of the titles are available. View our Specialist Study Booklists.

Requests

Any item not immediately available for borrowing may be requested in person, by telephone or online. The charge for this service is 60p per item (30p per item for people aged 60 and over).

Inter-library Loans

An inter-library loan service is available for material that is not available in the library. The charge for this service is £5.50 per item (£10.00 for businesses).

Loan Period

Books can be borrowed for up to three weeks, and may be renewed in person, online, or by telephone, if not requested by another reader. An extended loan period is also available if required. Please ask staff for details.
