Hub Community Library and Learning Centre

Newly refurbished, the Hub Library and Learning Centre now offers a welcoming flexible space for adults, children and teenagers where they can relax, choose books, find information, read newspapers and use the internet free on our public access computers. Friendly staff are on hand to offer help if needed.
Facilities and services
You will be amazed at the selection of books you can borrow - in both ordinary or Large Print. You can also borrow talking books in cassette or CD format.
Bored with the TV? Borrow a DVD for a small charge. We have thrillers, adventures, comedies and children's cartoons and films.
Enjoy counting games and interacting with your children using the "Count Me In" bags.
If you are looking for an item, you can ask the staff to help you or access the library catalogue yourself, either from the library or from your home.
There are comfortable chairs and a table where you can read a selection of newspapers for adults and magazines for young people.
Don't have a computer at home? No problem - come to the library to use the public access computers. You can go online and it is free. Not so sure about computers? We can give you free taster sessions to introduce you to the basics and enable you to develop your computer skills. Just ask. Free access to Wi-fi is available during library opening hours.
Facebook is used by millions of people every day to keep up with friends, upload photos, share links and videos and learn more about about the people they meet. You can now visit Hub Community Library and Learning Centre on Facebook.
Need a photocopy or a fax? We can help. We can photocopy or fax documents for a small charge.
Request Service
If you cannot find what you require in the library, please ask the staff. There is a request service which will bring the item you have requested to the Hub for you to pick up. You can also request items online from home.
Regular Activities for Children
- School holiday activities run twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm. We have ongoing drop in sessions throughout the holidays and term time.
- The children's Reading Group "Hubbabubba" meets every Monday from 3.30 pm during term time.
- Rhymetime is every Friday from 10 am to 10.45 am. Come and join in stories, songs and rhymes with lots of fun for toddlers and parents/carers.
- The Primary School Homework Club runs every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3.45 pm to 4.45 pm during term time. Two teachers run the club with assistance from the library staff.
- We also have a homework club for secondary school pupils every Wednesday from 4 pm to 5 pm during term time. Children's computer sessions are every Tuesday from 3 pm.
Regular Activities for Adults
- The Adult Reading Group meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month from 2 pm to 3 pm. Come and join us.
- The Writers' Group meets every Friday from 10.30 am to 12 noon.
- The Local History Group meets every Friday from 1 pm to 3.30 pm.
- The Job Shop is open every Friday from 11 am to 1 pm.
