Scone

Scone - Ref: WC3142

This large impressive house in Scone appears to have well-laid out gardens. The people in the photograph could be part of the household or staff.

The inhabitants of old Scone were moved up the hill to new Scone by the Earl of Mansfield, the principal landowner at the beginning of the 18th century to improve his estate.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
