This photograph shows a short section of the north side of Dundee's Nethergate. Daniel Dailly's 'baby linen and ladies' and juveniles' underclothing warehouse' was Nos. 61 and 63; he lived at No. 65 with his son, Daniel, a wine merchant in Lochee Road.

No. 47 was J. Pullar & Son of the dyeworks in Perth. William Adamson, at No. 49, is listed in the Dundee Directory as 'wireworker and bellhanger'. Mrs John Fraser's Embroidery Warehouse was at No. 53.

William Aimer was at No. 55 from around 1889 until 1893. George Walker was a 'confectioner and pastrybaker' at No. 57, while No. 59 was Miss A. McNaughton's wool warehouse.


Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
