This photograph shows the north eastern end of Dundee High Street, looking westwards.
The details of the image do not match any entry in the Dundee Directory. The nearest match is ca. 1892, when No. 82 is occupied by (amongst others) David Fyffe, a shipwright.
To the west of D. M. Brown (who eventually took over the entire building) are J. P. Smith & Co. James Rattray, solicitor, remains untraced at all.
Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
