High Street, Dundee

High Street, Dundee - Ref: WC0253

At the extreme left of this photograph is Commercial Street / Seagate; the remainder shows the southern side of Dundee High Street.

The Quality and Value Clothing Company (whose final clear out sale is advertised) is not listed in the Dundee Directory for that period; Alexander Stewart, the tailor, is listed at the same address, No. 2 High Street.

The advertising panel on the Tindal's Wynd side of Adams the glover is for W. C. Scott's tinsmith and gasfitting business, which was at No. 49 Forebank Road.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
