Flying Scotchman in Dundee Harbour

"Flying Scotchman" in Dundee Harbour - Ref: WC0825
The "Flying Scotchman" was an iron paddle steamer, built by J. T. Eltringham of South Shields in 1879.
She was bought from owners in Milford Haven in 1890 by William High, a Dundee fish merchant, and she was registered as a fishing vessel, with the serial DE 42.
Behind the "Flying Scotchman" is the "Flying Scud", DE 48, and the "Bonnie Dundee", a wooden paddle steamer built at Montrose in 1890 for James Tares of Dundee. She was later converted into a pleasure boat.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
