Photograph from Alexander Wilson Collection view from Shore Terrace of the Royal Arch with a ship moored to the side of the Arch.

The photograph shows men raising a flag on the top of the Arch, with groups of men and children standing around - some of the children are wearing no shoes and have their trousers rolled up - all are wearing caps.

A Grand Musical Promenade and Dance to be held at Rollos Pier - music by Dundee Professional Military Bands and an orchestra of 25 performers.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
