At one time, Dundee had three major railway termini: Dundee East served the Dundee and Arbroath Railway to the north, Dundee West was the Caledonian Railway's station, and Dundee Tay Bridge belonged to North British Railways.

This photograph by Alexander Wilson shows the entrance to Tay Bridge station (the covered stairway slightly to the left of centre, with the Goods Yard belonging to the Caledonian Railway in the background.

Wordie and Co., managed by H.F. Pollock, are listed in the Dundee Directory for 1900-01 as carting agents for the Caledonian, the London and North Western Railway, and the Dundee and Arbroath Joint Railway.


Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
