Grosvenor Terrace, Perth Road, Dundee - Ref: WC1093

Grosvenor Terrace forms part of the north side of Dundee's Perth Road, to the west of the numbered houses. This Alexander Wilson photograph looks from Grosvenor Road, which does not appear in the Dundee Directory.

The residents in 1889 included the principal of University College, William Peterson MA, LLD, William K. Bruce, a confectioner who worked for the famed Dundee firm, Keillor & Sons, and W. A. Brown, of whom nothing further is known.

No. 1 was the home of Alexander M. Grimond of the jute spinners J. & A. D. Grimond, of Bowbridge and Maxwelltown Works, with offices in King Street, and great uncles of the prominent liberal politician, Joe Grimond.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
