Rait

Rait - Ref: WC3073

Rait is an extremely picturesque village on the main road from Perth to Dundee, with a number of cottages dating from the 18th century. The children in the background appear to be lined up for the photograph.

Rait's utmost length and breadth southeastward and southwestward is on three and a half miles.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
