Harbour, Crail - Ref: WC1820
At one time Crail harbour was the most important port in the East Neuk of Fife. Most of the buildings found around the harbour area date from the 17th century, the largest being the former customs house.
Many of these buildings are still recogniseable today. (2001) Alongside the harbour, on the left, there is a small sandy beach where one of Crail's more unusual sights can be seen, a fossilised tree stump.
Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
