The photograph shows on the left hand side - Collier & Sons Wholesalers advertising "Great Sale". On the right hand side of the street a General Drapery Warehouse and G L Wilson's Drapers on opposite corner with a hand drawn cart and horse drawn cart visible.

The procession will leave Victoria Hospital and cross Balgay Hill Park, down Blackness Avenue, Perth Road, Nethergate, High Street, Commercial Street to Albert Square for the unveiling of the statute. The Duke, Lord Provost and 250 invited Gentlemen will dine at the Albert Institute.


Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
