St Andrews Street, Dundee

St Andrews Street, Dundee - Ref: WC0556

This photograph shows St Andrews Street in Dundee, looking northwards to the junction with King Street at St Andrews Place, near the church of that name.

The Egg and butter store at No. 14 belonged to Mrs Patterson (sometimes Paterson), who lived at No. 62 Seagate (at the south end of St Andrews Street). No. 12 was the grocery belonging to Robina Cameron.

No. 10 was Miss R. Anderson's ship-supplier's store. She lived at nearby, at No. 10 West Dock Street. Robert Keay, wholesale tea merchant, had a shop at No. 6. He lived at No. 1 Churchill Place in Broughty Ferry, then a separate town east of the city.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
