Mills Observatory
A Massive Thank-You from the Mills Observatory Team! .
We want to extend a huge thanks to everyone who visited Mills Observatory from October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.
Your enthusiasm and support have made this year truly unforgettable.
This winter season's weather has been kind to us, providing lots of wonderfully clear skies perfect for stargazing. We've had a fantastic season viewing constellations and planets such as Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and Venus. From the very start, Jupiter and its Galilean moons have been the highlight of the night sky, with Saturn a close second.
Thank you for being part of our community and for sharing your love of Mills Observatory with us. We look forward to welcoming you back for more celestial adventures from October 1, 2025!
Clear skies and happy stargazing!
Frequently asked questions
We have multiple telescopes located within the dome of the observatory, which a member of staff will help you operate to view the night sky. Please Note – night sky viewing is weather dependant, we need a dry evening with clear skies to open our dome and use the telescopes. As a general rule of thumb – if you can see the stars from where you are, you will get a better view through our telescopes – so come and see us!
Entry to the observatory and the use of all equipment is free, but we do gladly accept donations. Donations boxes are located throughout the building, and a member of staff can direct you to one if required.
There is a small car park at the entrance to the Observatory, which includes two accessible parking spaces.
