Douglas Community Library

Douglas Library is based in the Community Centre in the heart of Douglas. It is a small friendly Community Library with a wide range of books and services. We cater for all ages from babies to 60+ with a wide range of fiction, non-fiction, large print, audio books for children and adults.

There are also board and picture books, and 'Count Me In' bags which will help with numeracy skills. They contain toys, games, and a book. We also have a section in the library for teenagers which has a range of fiction and non-fiction titles as well as study guides to help with exams.

You will find the staff friendly, helpful and adept at finding the answers to your questions, so drop in and join today.

There are 6 PCs available with free Internet access and taster sessions can be arranged with staff for beginners.

We have a selection of daily newspapers and magazines for children to read in the library.

If we don't have the book you want, ask a member of staff and we will obtain it if possible, for a small charge.

Services for Children and Young People

We run a homework club during term time on Wednesdays from 3.45 pm to 4.45 pm which is staffed by two teachers.

Our toddler Rhymetime runs fortnightly in the Douglas and Angus Parish Church on Thursdays at 11 am. During school holidays we run children's activities, colouring sheets and board games are always available.

Nursery and class visits are arranged regularly throughout the year.

We also celebrate special occasions such as 'Roald Dahl' day, Halloween and Christmas, when we have our Santa's grotto.
