Glebelands Primary Pupil Wins Active Schools Competition

A Glebelands Primary School pupil has won a competition to 'Design a Mascot' for Active Schools Dundee. Olly Munro's, Bizzee the Bumblebee, design was chosen by a panel of judges from over 4000 entries across Dundee.

Pupils from Primary 5-7 classes were asked to design a mascot that represents being active, their favourite sports and activities and more importantly, having fun. The winning mascot design will now be displayed on the new Active Schools website to be launched soon, their social media platforms and communications. As a prize, Olly will receive now a family lesson on the dry ski slope at Ancrum Outdoor Centre.

On winning, Olly said,

"I'm Speechless! I enjoyed designing a mascot that fits in with Active Schools - Bizzee the Active Bumblebee"

Jane Dunlop, Active Schools Coordinator said,

"The competition has been a great success with thousands of entries coming in from P5-P7 pupils across Dundee. It was very difficult for the panel to find a winner. Thank you to - James Fenna, Active Schools Manager, Angela Gahagan designer, Leisure and Culture Dundee and Sarah Anderson, Education Support Officer - Health and Wellbeing who found a very worthy winner in Olly's design.

Active Schools is a sportscotland led programme which aims to provide more and higher quality opportunities to take part in sport and physical activity before school, during lunchtime and after school, and to develop effective pathways between schools and sports clubs in the local community.
