The tenement kitchen, pub, shop and schoolroom, although not currently on display, are part of the reserve research collection cared for by Dundee Art Galleries and Museums. These well loved items had been shown for many years at McManus. By their nature they were a significant size, and replacing them in the displays would have prevented other objects from being displayed because of space restrictions. As a result there are more objects from the heritage collections on display than there were previously, with a wider variety of subjects covered.
