Winter Mountaineering Intermediate (2 Days)
A weekend looking at the skill knowledge to tackle Grade 1 gully's and classic mountaineering routes such as Sgor Lutharn's Lancet Edge or winter traverse of Beinn Eighe. The course will also look at basic rope work, but the emphasis during the days is on safe movement and route choice.
This course is ideally suited to someone who wants to progress from winter walking onto steeper and more rocky terrain, such as the classic grade 1 gully's or ridges. As such, it is expected that you will be competent in winter skills such as the use of crampons and ice axe and winter navigation. Previous experience of climbing or scrambling is useful but not essential.
Venues will be chosen to take advantage of the best weather and conditions.
Course Cost: £180.
Age: 18 years plus.
Dates:Thu 5th and Fri 6th March.
