Tay Bridge Station is first listed in the Dundee Directory for 1778-79, listed under the North British Railway Company, which ran from Berwick and Carlisle to Dundee and Perth.

The Dundee Goods manager was David Deuchars, who lived at No. 13 Victoria Street. The goods agent was William Dott, who lived at No. 11 Baffin Street. No-one is listed as passenger manager.

The covered walkways are still a feature of the south side of Dundee Tay Bridge Station, which is the only mainline railway station in the City. Broughty Ferry maintains a small station with morning and evening services.


Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
