This photograph shows Dundee's Tally Street running from the Overgate in the north and left to Nethergate in the south.
William Skinner, ware houseman and (according to the Dundee Directory) cycle merchant) was at No. 11, and lived at No. 105a Nethergate. The hairdressing rooms barely visible at No. 13 belonged to William Parker, who lived in Crichton Street.
Crabbe & Middleton are listed as upholsterers at Nos. 7-8 (the decorated shop) and as cabinetmakers and polishers at Nos. 2-5. William M. Crabbe lived in William Street, Tayport. William Middleton lived at No. 142 Albert Street in Dundee.
Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923.
