Royal visit decorations, Victoria Statue, Dundee - Ref: WC1685

Photograph shows rear view of crowds of people in front of the Statue of Queen Victoria.

The statue was unveiled by the Duke of Connaught after he opened the Victoria Hospital for Incurables. There was a civic lunch at the Albert Institute before the Duke left by train at 4.15pm.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923
