Royal visit decorations, Victoria Statue, Albert Institute, Dundee - Ref: WC1682

Photograph shows the statue of Queen Victoria with a banner saying "God Save the Queen" across the road. Group of children in the foreground. A raised platform is visible with people sitting on the platform.

Subscribers to the cost of the statute (which cost £3,500 the money being raised in one day) received a ticket of admission to one of the platforms near the statue to see the unveiling.

Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923
