Photograph shows back view of crowds - it gives some idea of the variety of clothing worn by adults and children in 1899. Again everyone was wearing a hat of some sort.

Durrant, 4 Castle Street Edinburgh advertising that it will send fitters to the Queens Hotel (by appointment) for evening gowns, dinner and reception gowns for those wishing to celebrate the royal visit.


Alexander Wilson who took this photograph, was a supervisor in a Dundee jute mill for over 20 years. He bequeathed much of his collection and £50, to cover the costs involved, to the Free Library Committee of Dundee in 1923
